Vegetarian and vegan food so often gets a bad rap, especially when they are being used as “substitutes” to traditionally meaty dishes. But here at Hog Roast Lakenheath, we don’t believe that at all. In fact, we think that there is a massive world to explore still with vegetarian foods, and that the old “beige” idea of vegetarian dishes is just lazy thinking.
Our vegan and vegetarian dishes are filled with all sorts of wonderful colours; our chefs love getting to work with our vegetarian menus because it so often allows them to be creative with all sorts of bright and colourful foods that look excellent on a plate, platter, or grazing table for a summer swing. They also come packed with plenty flavour and texture too, so the old myth that a veggie plate only has beige, boring foods is now most certainly a thing of the past with a Hog Roast Lakenheath catered event.
Even though we may specialise in meat roasts specifically, we have plenty of time for our vegan and vegetarian guests. We have an abundance of options to choose from: our BBQ pulled jackfruit packs in tonnes of “meaty” flavour and might well as be mistaken for its real BBQ pulled pork. We slowly simmer it to bring all of the flavour out, and then we steep it in Hickory BBQ sauce to give it that tangy BBQ punch. It goes along great with our crunchy slaw and a wrap or roll.
If it’s a barbecue you’re looking for this summer as a veggie, then look no further than our grilled skewers. We stuff a skewer with a mixture of vegetables, including peppers, tomatoes, and even halloumi for the non-vegan option before grilling it to perfection. Perfect flavour and crisp texture in one go – and it’s got an incredible colour to it! We can also do stuffed peppers for you – roasted or grilled – zesty and refreshing salads, veg medleys, all kinds of potato dishes, and delicious quiches and tortillas!
