Let it never be said that our chefs and servers at Hog Roast Holywell Row can’t take the heat. It is literally in our job description as we spend all day by a hot, blazing, machine hog roaster for the better part of 6-8 hours until it is ready for serving at weddings, corporate events, and private parties.
So when a wedding crops up in the midst of yet another record breaking heatwave here in Suffolk, the Hog Roast Holywell Row team is ready and able to brave the heat and keep our service to the absolute premium level it is always supposed to be.
We’re talking about the incredible wedding reception for Ed and Jess, who tied the knot in town before heading home for a sensational celebration surrounded by friends, family, and the Hog Roast Holywell Row catering team. Of course going into the day we could never have known just how hot it was going to be, but thankfully we had a menu that is already intended with summer in mind. The only changes we had to make were for safety precautions with consideration to the heat. Things like keeping foods, staff, and guests covered throughout to prevent food spoiling and guests overheating – all comes with part and parcel of being a premium wedding caterer.
Our hog roast, however, looked just excellent in the sunny outdoors. A good mix of smoky aroma and roast goodness wafted through the party, creating that glorious summer feeling and building up the anticipation for our eventual service. Hog roast rolls or butcher’s sausages, served along with fresh sage and onion stuffing, cooling apple sauce, and crispy crackling was just the thing needed for the heat – comforting and delicious! To cool guests down some more: fresh tomato and mozzarella salad, mixed leaves, creamy slaw, and some regular and sweet potato fries for good measure.
Speaking to Ed and Jess afterwards, the newlyweds were very thankful to the Hog Roast Holywell Row team for braving the heat and serving without complaint – along with a word for just how good the roast was. It’s always lovely to hear that you hard work hasn’t gone unnoticed, especially in such extreme conditions as this heatwave!
