As a locally owned and operating caterer, we at Hog Roast Ipswich have always been big supporters of community led events and support. One of our goals with catering has always been to bring community together. To us, that is the real strength of event dining and ultimately what any event is all about – bringing people together, whether that be for celebration, commiseration, or growth.
So, then, the Hog Roast Ipswich team were privileged to join the incredible folks at MAP Youth Advisory for a very special event held at the esteemed Dragon Hall here in Ipswich. Both an excellent cause and event, held in one of the very best and most unique venues in all of Ipswich – why wouldn’t we want to be a part of that?
The MAP Youth Advisory are a charity aimed at offering guidance to our county’s youth. With not a lot of resource, they do their best with community outreach and various events like this to support our young people where they may need it. To be asked to cater for such a great cause was really important to everyone at Hog Roast Ipswich, not in the least because we are Suffolk locals ourselves and many of us have sons and daughters growing up in these uncertain times. The added bonus of being invited to cater for this event is that we also got to work in Dragon Hall which might well be one of making the list of our favourite venues. A grade 1 listed medieval building, you won’t find many work environments quite like it in any other industry. It is just our luck that catering can take you to such places, and that our signature hog roasts lend themselves perfectly to a medieval setting like this too!
With 78 guests involved, it’s a good thing we had plenty food for all. Our hog roast was accompanied with our sage and onion stuffing, crispy crackling, and fresh apple sauce while our head chef Tim also cooked up some delicious marinated chicken thighs and BBQ pulled jackfruit as alternative options. Our young guests could also help themselves to fresh fries, salads, slaws, and even a sweet treat or two for dessert!
