Last weekend the Hog Roast Bury St Edmonds team welcomed in birthday boy Oscar, who put together a massive birthday celebration out at the brilliant Suffolk Barn.
We played our part in the day by catering for over 140 guests during what became a very special birthday celebration for Oscar. Being in the incredible Suffolk Bar, the party came with a slight western theme, with guests showing up in various western style clothing and looking forward to a dining experience to match. Luckily for them, they had Hog Roast Bury St Edmond’s specialist catering to look forward to.
Our signature dining experience, the hog roast, fits right into that rustic theme. It doesn’t look out of place at all cooking in the traditional spit style, surrounded by a brilliantly converted barn just outside of Bury St Edmonds. With rolling hills for miles toward Cambridge, it couldn’t have been a better spot to cook and serve such a special dining experience. Head chef Tim worked away at our hog roast whilst prepping many incredible accompaniments to keep the 140 guests well satisfied. As always, our hog roast came served with its must have accompaniments of sage and onion stuffing, refreshing apple sauce, and plenty of golden crackling for that added does of crisp texture and flavour. Joining our roast thereafter: grilled veg and halloumi skewers, vegan pulled BBQ jackfruit, herb dressed new potatoes, gourmet coleslaw, heritage tomato and buffalo mozzarella salad, and mixed salad. To make the occasion all the more special for birthday boy Oscar, Tim even let him make the first cut in our signature hog roast before then taking over to expertly carve it for serving. A special Hog Roast Bury St Edmonds experience that we are sure Oscar won’t soon forget!
To top off our dining, we ended with dessert choices of homemade profiteroles and lemon tart. These were late additions to the menu, but one that we are certainly glad made the cut in the end as they provided the perfect finish to what was a brilliant evening surrounded by a tonne of very fun guests!
