The festive magic of Christmas has arrived with Hog Roast Bury St Edmunds, as we helped to host Greene King’s Westgate Brewery, annual Christmas lunch for their staff on 12th December. With 140 of their dedicated staff members to feed, we wanted to ensure that the day ran as smoothly as possible to allow our guests to take a moment to unwind after a busy year. And we did just that by delivering a Christmas menu that felt familiar, filling, and easy to enjoy during a social work event.
With two serving times at 12pm and 3pm, the setup was all about keeping queues moving and making sure everyone was fed without chaos. The full festive menu gave guests a choice between slow-roasted pig or turkey, both served with all the classic trimmings and sides. Alongside the meat, gluten-free
rolls were available as well as standard bread rolls, making it simple for guests to personalise their plates without worrying about dietary needs.
As always, the meat free options are never an after thought at our feasts. Guests could choose between BBQ pulled jackfruit or grilled vegetable and halloumi skewers, giving a tasty alternative rather than a token dish. If you’re anything like us, you’ll know that no roast is complete without all of the hearty sides, which included cauliflower cheese, a seasonal vegetable medley, green beans, peas, and glazed carrots, plus roasted potatoes, pigs in blankets, and rich gravy to bring everything together.
Of course, we always have to finish on something sweet, so once the main plates were cleared, the meal finished with mince pies and fresh cream. Everything was served using wooden bamboo crockery and cutlery, keeping things practical and organised for a large scale workplace event.
With our friendly catering manager Tim overseeing the day, the service stayed on track across both sittings, allowing Greene King staff to relax, catch up with colleagues, and enjoy a proper Christmas break away from their usual busy schedules. Hog Roast Bury St Edmunds were proud to be part of the celebrations and help deliver a memorable Christmas lunch at such a popular local venue.
